Amanda and Johnny’s wedding is really a beautiful story of their community coming together. They had a backyard wedding planned at Amanda’s parents house in Calgary. 3 weeks before the wedding that backyard was under water after the devastating rains flooded Calgary and surrounding areas. All of the work put into preparing for the wedding was swept away. As with many stories you heard during that devastating time friends, family and community came together to help rebuild what was lost. There was no exception here.
Their wedding was not only a celebration of their relationship but also a tribute to the family and friends who supported them along the way during the clean up but also through their lives and relationship. And apart from some soft ground the only evidence of the flood was the mural of photos from the clean up and the rubber boots filled with flowers that lined the aisle.
Their wedding focused on celebrating with their guests. We did a first look and photos with them before guests arrived. The rest of the day was capturing the celebrations. With a simple ceremony in the backyard followed by some time in the bouncy castle and good eats and a dance at Teatros located in downtown Calgary. Amanda and Johnny’s infectious smiles never left their face and it truly was a joy capturing their beautiful day.
