i hope everyone had a fantastic christmas holiday with family and friends. we are just getting back in the swing of things over here and luckily it was a relaxing break for us. i came into this new year thinking that i was going to avoid the annual making of resolutions, most of us know the process and most of us also know that by february those resolutions are down the drain or at the end of the priority list. i was being a little cynical about the whole thing and not jumping on the band wagon this year. but then… my dear husband and friend reminded me that resolutions are a vehicle for change, and if we are not changing we are not growing. and i sure don’t want to be the same person i am today, tomorrow or in a year. don’t get me wrong, i like me but… i also have a picture in my mind of the woman that i want to be one day. one question would be, can i get there with out making resolutions… with out changing. the answer is nope. so here i am sharing some of my new year resolutions.
1.documenting. this covers a few of my goals this year. to take more photos, and try new things. i thought about doing a 365 day project, but the thought of it made me to nervous … so i am going to try for once a week. there will be some cheating, but i make the rules – i will use booked sessions to count for some of the weeks. when we don’t have something booked i will seek out an activity or a place that i have not been to before. or if any one wants to meet for coffee and then snap a few photos give me a shout.
2. pinterest. i love it. i pin a lot. i have maybe made 2 things from my pinning, not including recipes. so i would like to take on one project a month that i have pinned. i will post pictures of these projects.
3. running. i have taken a hiatus from this past love and plan on getting back into this by training for two races.
4. writing. if you have made it this far in the post you might have noticed that i am not a strong writer. this is something that i really want to improve on because communication is key and i would love to learn to better express myself. i plan on enrolling in a few writing courses offered in the city over the next year. also, i will be posting once a week a few thoughts and ideas for planning a wedding. it has crossed my mind to one day make the leap into event planning, at this point it does not make sense due to the fact that i am usually photographing them so instead i will write about it.
thank you for listening. i truly believe that the first step to change is writing down what you want to change, it is a source of accountability. i would love to hear what everyone else’s resolutions are, the changes they want to make and maybe in some small way we can encourage each other to honor them past february.
cheers.
